Cancer Immunology and Immunotherapy
This research area is concerned with cancer-related immunology and immunotherapy. It is a study on how the body utilizes its defense mechanism to fight cancer. Current studies are aimed at understanding the mechanisms that enable the cancer to escape from immune attack. The immune system can recognize tumor cells and mediate antigen-specific tumor defense under certain condition. Recent mechanistic insights obtained from pre-clinical studies and the approval of the first immunotherapies have motivated increasing number of academic investigators and pharmaceutical/biotech companies to further elucidate the role of immunity in tumor pathogenesis and to reconsider the role of immunotherapy.
Diabetes
